Start with a focus on you as the individual business owner and leader of your company. During this session, we will cover Chapter 1: Owner of The Guided Small Business Planner. We will delve into the mindset of entrepreneurship and what it means to have and build grit. We will take the time to identify our support system and name ways to strengthen it. Next we will talk about owner values and how they tie into the business values and priorities. Last, we will talk about naming your WHY and how that ties into motivation as a business owner. The last 15 minutes will be an open Q&A based on your unique business.

Get to know your customers and create customer personas based on their likes, dislikes, and buying motivations. During this session we will complete Chapter 2: Customers of The Guided Small Business Planner. We will walk through exactly how to understand your customers' motivation for buying based on the feedback they give you during customer discovery. It’s easy to skip past customer discovery if you don’t understand how to do it or the impact that it can have on your business but this process is crucial to developing a good marketing plan. The last 15 minutes will be an open Q&A based on your unique business.

Build an understanding of your competitors and how you fit into the marketplace, then calculate your market share. During this session covering chapter 3, we will walk through how to build competitor profiles based on your industry and use the guidance of The Guided Small Business Planner. Then we will walk through how to truly understand what is happening in your industry and use that information to accurately calculate your potential market share (AKA your potential revenue). The last 15 minutes will be an open Q&A based on your unique business.

Choose or refresh your business name and legal structure and understand your tax implications. There is a lot of conflicting information online about proper business structures and taxes. During this session covering chapter 4, you’ll be guided through completing a worksheet based on your unique business so that you can understand potential legal questions, tax decisions, and administrative to-do’s for your business. Begin to craft a vision, a mission, and company values that resonate with your brand, your personal values, and your customers. Then, start to design an eye-catching and memorable brand that speaks to your customers. During this session, we will walk through how to create a business that reflects your values and resonates with your customers. Then we will talk about the best ways to bring your brand to life and walk through some examples of brands that do this well. This is the fun part for many business owners but it can be easy to do this only from what the owner wants and forget to bring the customer experience and perspective into the process. This session covering chapters 5 and 6 will be fun and an inspiring way for business owners to start to see some of their hard work in the previous sessions come to life. The last 15 minutes will be an open Q&A based on your unique business.

Marketing doesn’t have to feel like a guessing game. During this session you’ll map out your marketing plan with specific touchpoints for each customer persona based on the work you’ve done in previous sessions. At the end of the session you’ll have a marketing plan based on your ideal customer personas. This is often one of the hardest parts of running a business and this session covering chapter 7 will allow you to walk away with a simple and effective plan. The last 15 minutes will be an open Q&A based on your unique business.

During this session, you’ll plan out exactly how your customers will interact with and experience your company. Designing the customer experience is about more than just a pretty window display or brand colors. We will break down the process for your customers. Next we will start to calculate your business financials—from your personal wealth goals to your sales prices and monthly sales goals. At the end of the session covering chapters 8 and 9, we will have an open Q&A for your unique business.

During this session we will finish calculating your business financials and name your monthly and annual sales goals as we finish chapters 9 and 10. Then we will wrap up this series naming your key operations needed to accomplish the business plan that you have created. Your support doesn’t end here, though. You can schedule complimentary one-on-one counseling with the Small Business Center to review your unique plan and ask questions.
