Grand Opening & Ribbon Cutting: United Way Born Learning Trail

United Way of Henderson County fights for the health, education, financial stability and basic needs of everyone in Henderson County. We organize and mobilize resources to improve the lives of Henderson County residents. With thanks to incredible community support, our work helps to provide over 40,000 services to Henderson County neighbors each year. United Way of Henderson County has been a catalyst for positive change in the community since 1953. Through our funding of carefully selected nonprofit partners, we connect neighbors in need to local resources that can help make life better. Through our programs like Girls EMpowered, Rising Leaders, and Everyday Strong, along with events like Days of Caring, we engage neighbors in work that benefits our entire community. Learn more and get involved by visiting www.liveunitedhc.org.

The Born Learning Trail is a series of 10 interactive signs that offer fun, active learning for young children. The trail is designed to support parents and caregivers in their critical role as a child’s first teacher, and creates a vibrant play and learning opportunity within local parks.
A child’s early years, from birth until school age, are a unique period of growth and development. In fact, 85 percent of the brain’s development happens before kindergarten. Learning to walk and talk, beginning to think independently, understanding how to communicate, and learning to control impulses and emotions – are all critical early learning skills that build the necessary foundation for successful future learning.
Decades of research show that high quality early childhood experiences, inside and outside the home, can make a significant difference for children, creating a vital pathway for success in school and life.
