Hopeful Connections: Connecting National Expertise to a Local Level
Join us for a day of community engagement and education! This event is designed to bring together members of the Henderson County community to learn about local resources and services surrounding the substance misuse epidemic. Our goal is to promote awareness and understanding of the programs available to residents.
The event will take place on Thursday, July 27th, 2023 at 5:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time at 180 West Campus Drive, Flat Rock, NC 28731. We encourage everyone to attend and bring their friends and family.
Throughout the day, there will be a variety of activities, including informational booths, demonstrations, and a special keynote speaker, Nic Sheff.
Nic Sheff’s heartbreaking and inspiring struggle with substance abuse disorder is the story of Beautiful Boy, a major motion picture starring Timothée Chalamet as Nic and Steve Carell as his father, David. The film, which earned Golden Globe and SAG nominations for Chalamet, is based on Nic’s New York Times bestselling memoir, Tweak: Growing Up on Methamphetamines and David’s bestseller of the same title. Sharing an unglamorized, authentic and heart-touching story of substance abuse and recovery that is deeply rooted in mental illness, Nic has been recognized as “a life-changing speaker.” His deeply engaging talks put a compelling human face on our nation’s substance abuse epidemic, encouraging those who struggle to embrace help and bringing hope to all who are touched by it.
Don't miss this chance to hear Nic Sheff speak about the journey from addiction to clean living and learn about the resources available in your community and connect with your neighbors. We hope to see you there!
