The Eastern Spotted Skunk (Spilogale putorius) is a rarely-seen but charismatic species native to western North Carolina. Come learn more about the biology of this unique species, its mountain habitat, and how the NC Wildlife Resources Commission goes about researching and managing the Spotted Skunk in our state.

Caitlin Brett is the state Furbearer Biologist with the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission, and represents a wide variety of species in the state including otters, opossums, muskrats, foxes, bobcats, beavers, coyotes, weasels, and skunks. She has worked on wildlife research projects all across the country, and enjoys sharing her enthusiasm for the natural world with all audiences.

The Walnut Creek Preserve Speaker Series programs are made possible thanks to our partnership with the Preserve.
