Position Summary:
The Part-Time Bookkeeper will support the financial health of the organization by managing day-to-day bookkeeping functions, ensuring accurate and timely recording of transactions, and helping maintain transparency in all financial activities. This role is essential to supporting the integrity and sustainability of our mission.
Key Responsibilities:
Record and categorize all financial transactions using accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Online)
Process accounts payable and receivable, including donor contributions, grants, and vendor payments
Reconcile monthly bank and credit card statements
Prepare regular financial reports for leadership and the Board of Directors
Assist with budget tracking, grant reporting, and annual financial reviews or audits
Maintain organized financial records in compliance with nonprofit standards
Support payroll processing and expense reimbursements, as needed
Ensure compliance with IRS and nonprofit regulations (e.g., 990 filings, donor acknowledgments)
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a bookkeeper (nonprofit experience preferred)
Proficiency with QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets
Understanding of nonprofit accounting principles
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Discretion and confidentiality with sensitive financial information
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and remotely if needed
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Familiarity with donor management systems or CRM platforms
Personal or professional connection to veteran communities is a plus
Compensation:
Hourly wage commensurate with experience. Flexible scheduling and a mission-driven work environment.
