Food & Operations Associate

Position Summary:
The Food & Operations Associate drives food delivery and pick-up routes, assists in the Food Pantry and backs up the Director of Services & Operations. This full-time position also assists with daily Food Pantry tasks. The Associate will embrace IAM’s core values to serve those in need with compassion and respect and work well with the team.
Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Drives food delivery routes and prepares food for delivery.
  • Completes food delivery paperwork daily.
  • Assists the Food Pantry Manager with daily operations.
  • Provides back-up to Director of Services & Operations
  • Assists the IAM Door Ambassador and Thrift Store as needed with donations; especially large donations.
  • Assists with daily light maintenance and helps with seasonal landscaping.
  • Works limited hours on Sunday mornings.
  • Assists with occasional weekends and special events.
  • Participates in weekly staff meetings, IAM retreats and other required training and agency-related activities.
  • Any other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Experience:  Minimum of 1-3 years of work experience; experience preferred working with economically vulnerable populations and volunteers is preferred. Experience safely driving a box truck. Bilingual is a plus.
 
Education:  High School degree education preferred or the equivalent of work experience and education.
Skills:
  1. Possesses a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  2. Experience driving a 26-foot box truck safely (commercial license not needed).
  3. Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 lbs.
  4. Thrives in a team environment.

  8. Ability to assist in training volunteers.

  11. Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word and ability to learn new software.
  12. Experience working with volunteers a plus.
  13. Ability to speak Spanish, a plus.
Work Relationship and Scope:
Reports directly to the Director of Services and Operations and takes direction from Food & Logistics’ Manager. This position interacts regularly with IAM staff, volunteers and neighbors (clients) and community partners. 
 
Working Conditions:
Job Conditions/Work Location: Work performed in and around IAM’s Crisis Services Facility. Drives assigned routes and assists in the pantry with unloading, moving, packing and pallet moving. Some stationary work in an office environment using a computer.

Physical requirements: Required walking, standing, sitting and lifting boxes up to 50 lbs, and the ability to work a flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends, as needed. 
Work Schedule: Sunday morning, Monday – Thursday
